CBAM Support

CBAM Advisory, Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism
CBAM readiness for the built environment

The UK Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism comes into force on 1 January 2027. For developers, housebuilders and building materials manufacturers, it introduces big cost exposure and new data requirements across project pipelines and supply chains. Construction Carbon helps built environment organisations understand their exposure and act before it becomes a problem.

What we do

We work directly with project teams and manufacturers to map exposure, model cost risk and put the right data and documentation in place. Our work sits at the intersection of whole life carbon, material specification and CBAM compliance.

Key Aspects

  • Assess which materials in a project's supply chain are subject to CBAM
  • Calculate embedded carbon for covered goods using product-specific or default values
  • Prepare CBAM declarations in line with EU Implementing Regulations
  • Advise on supply chain engagement to obtain third-country carbon price data
  • Support procurement decisions to minimise CBAM liability

Materials covered under CBAM

  1. Steel and iron products
  2. Aluminium
  3. Cement and clinker
  4. Fertiliser
  5. Electricity
  6. Hydrogen
