Announcing Construction Carbon joining the global community of businesses who are B Corp Certified

Construction Carbon are proud to announce they have become a Certified B Corporation

Construction Carbon has joined a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability, by becoming a Certified B Corporation.

B Corp Certification provides an opportunity for companies to measure and improve their impact for all stakeholders, across all areas of their business.  But for systems change to be adopted at the rate that’s needed, we need leaders across the wider UK economy to reinvent how business is done.

The B Corp Certification process is rigorous:

  • In order to become a certified B Corp, companies must complete and submit the free B Impact Assessment (BIA) with a score of over 80 points. This involves answering 200 questions covering 12 months of operations across 5 impact areas (Governance,Environment, Customers, Community & Workforce).
  • Companies must also amend their articles of association to embed a commitment to broader stakeholders within the legal framework of their company.
  • All B Corps must publicly list their impact score on the B Corp Directory.
  • This commitment to ongoing improvement is at the heart of B Corps’ leadership and underpins the credibility of the movement. In addition to re-certifying every 3 years, B Corps must meet continually evolving (and improving) standards.

Gilbert Lennox-King, CEO of Construction Carbon, commented: “We are delighted to have joined the 1500+ pioneering companies in the UK that want to make a better future, as we announce our full B Corp certification.”  “Co-founder Tom Scott and I were clear from our inception that being a better business should be the norm and we had ambitious plans to change the construction industry.  So, we started our journey by becoming a pending B Corp.  Fast forward to today, and after a lot of hard work with the team we are now proud members of the B Corp community.

Commenting on the achievement, Lucinda Gray, Construction Carbon’s Head of Operations, expressed her enthusiasm, stating: "The journey to become B-Corp Certified has be an incredibly rewarding experience and recognition like this helps highlight why Construction Carbon is such a great place to work.  I look forward to continuing to challenge the business over the next 3 years to ensure we keep improving our impact and our score.”
